Choosing the Right Vape Juice

Choosing the Right Vape Juice

Each vape juice product contains two base ingredients: propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). Flavourings are also added to the e-liquid solution to give each one a unique taste for the consumer. But the most important thing to remember is that most vape juices contain nicotine unless you purchase a nicotine-free variation.

Over the last decade, many vape juice products and brands have hit the marketplace. Besides the different flavours available, the primary difference between various vape juices concerns their PG-to-VG ratios. Understanding the importance of these ratios is critical because they influence the “throat hit” you feel from vaping the juice.

The throat hit refers to the feeling you have in the back of your throat after you inhale the vapour. Depending on the PG-to-VG ratio of the vape juice, you may feel a strong or smooth sensation in your throat. The basic rule of thumb is that the higher the PG versus the VG, the stronger the throat hit.

For example, the standard vape juice will have a 50:50 ratio of PG-to-VG, offering a smooth and balanced throat hit that is not too strong but light. However, choosing a vape juice product with a 60:40 ratio of PG-to-VG would cause a much stronger sensation in the back of your throat.

Many people who want to quit smoking cigarettes will turn to vape juices with more PG because the stronger sensation from vaping them is similar to the feeling of smoking a cigarette. On the other hand, if you don’t care as much about the throat hit and want to produce more vapour clouds in the air, then a better vape juice choice would be one with more VG than PG.

Think About the Coils of Your Vape Device

Vape kits have replaceable coils with an ohm rating printed on the casing. A 1 ohm or higher rating means the coils are suitable for vape juices with more than 50% PG. But if they have a rating of less than 1 ohm, the coils are ideal for vape juices with more than 50% VG.

Each PG-to-VG ratio signifies the thickness of the vape juice. Some vape devices have coils that cannot handle vape juices that are too thick, such as the ones with less than 1 ohm. If your device contains replaceable coils, you’d have to replace them with coils featuring a rating of 1 ohm or higher.

The safest choice is a vape juice with a 50:50 ratio because it will be compatible with most vape devices and coils. Then, as you gain experience using and purchasing vape kits and vape juices, you can experiment with other ratios and coils.

Choosing a Flavour

People transitioning from cigarettes to vaping may want to start with tobacco or menthol flavoured vape juice because it will feel more familiar to them. Eventually, you can explore other flavours of vape juices that taste like fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, desserts, beverages, and lemon vape juice.

Conclusion

Ultimately, the flavour choice is less crucial than the PG-to-VG ratio choice. It all depends on your preferences regarding vape strength, the ohm rating of your coils, and flavour interests.
